On Tuesday I attended the CBCA AAA event (NSW branch of the Children’s Book Council Tripple A — the event used to be called the Clayton’s shortlist) for two reasons.
One, to present my picks for the 2010 CBCA Eve Pownell awards for Non-Fiction – books that I would have chosen if I was an ‘official’ judge. two of my picks … Australian Backyard Explorer by Peter Macinnis (who was a teacher at my high school) and Maralinga: The Anangu Story.
Two, to again be made a ‘Cutlet’ – but this time in front of an audience. Once again my friend Susanne presented the citation … with a few interjections by ME.
and this was followed with a thrilling presentation by my friends Emma Quay and Lisa Shannahan — the creators of the shortlisted gorgeous book Bear and Chook by the Sea. Great day … thanks heaps!
