One of the immense joys of being a children’s author is the release of your book. Another wondrous joy is having a launch party for your book … and nearly as grand is being able to attend the launch of a friend’s book. SO, it was just delightful to be able to attend the launch last night of MIRROR – Jeannie Baker’s absolutely stunnningly ground-breaking new title for Walker Books. And what a venue for the launch … the Museum of Sydney. Heaps of folks filled the auditorium and swamped the exhibition, so many that we will have to go back and have a look at Jeannie’s original artworks on another day.
This is such a stunning book in so many ways with the duel reading of the images, the amazing images, the visual comparisons between two cultures. And of course a launch like this means being able to see many friends at one time. How grand! Three cheers for Jeannie and Walker Books.
