So what does one eat on one’s first night in Manila to attend the 1st Manila Literary Festival … just have a look at these gastronomic delights … and yes your eyes do not deceive you. Frogs legs and deep fried fish (Philippino specialities) were on the menu (and tasted scrumptious) as was that rather tall mango juice!
And what a wonderful way to start my time here in Manila. Andrea and Ciela took the international visiting contingent out for a welcome dinner – smiling for the camera (and before we started dining) are Andrea, Vikas Swarup, Jayapriya Vasudevan and Mita Kapur – Ciela is just out of shot on the telephone. My plane was late landing here and the bag was not yet unpacked (but I did arrive just in time to go to dinner) – hence the ‘less than appealing’ tshirt worn by me. At least I freshened up!
It is a thrill to be here … roll on Day 1 and my first presentation.
