Egads …

I forgot to post about this session that was on at the Waterloo Library for the City of Sydney before we went to Hong Kong. How much FUN this afternoon in mid April was!!

Claudia and I go way back …. a long, long way back. We grew up in the same street and we went to the same primary school (she was in my sister’s year) and she even remembers getting more than one lift home in my father’s old ¬†green Valiant (the family car) in which he would drive home all the visitors – especially his children’s visitors. I told you that this was an egads post!

Claudia was already setting up her bits and pieces when we arrived so as soon as that was done we plonked ourselves down on the chairs and then set about reminiscing about Alt Street, and school, and families and those early years living in the same neighbourhood. Alas, Ellen from the library, had to interrupt us for we were due to start our conversation which I suppose was fair enough as people had booked to hear us speak about Claudia’s magnificent book Collectomania. Claudia also had a wonderful array of ‘show and tell’ that included windup robots and space toys (just look for Astro Boy in the photo below), a statue of the Maltese Falcon, a copy of the Spy Who Loved Me (with signature that was alas not Fleming’s), toy cars (one in a box – a 007 James Bond car too), snow domes and pens with floating bits and other wonderful pieces of memorabilia from her house! I even pulled out a few of my signed books. She chit chatted about motivation and of course we referenced her lovely book!

I asked questions, people fired questions and then all of a sudden it was done and dusted. Our chatting was done … for the moment. With a lot of years to catch up on there will be more gatherings for sure!

And I am not a hoarder. I am a collector. Thank you Claudia.
