So, I get off the plane from India and grab a few hours sleep before rushing in to the Books in Homes office to join the crew selecting books for the catalogues for term 2 next year! What was most amazing driving across town was that there were no horns blasting me with directions to move across or to let me know that some vehicle with wheels was coming through. I still can’t get that Indian horn chorus out of my head!
Once in the board room – the other folks were already there as I was still running on Indian time – coffee was acquired for me – knowing that I could not function properly without a BIG cup of coffee – and then we set to task. What a thrill to find that my friend from the USA Uma Krishnaswami has her new title Book Uncle and Me on the selection list – it was selected to go into the catalogue so of course I had to grab a snap of me holding her book. Tamie Sauer‘s Nugget and Fang is also published here in Australia and was also selected but sorry Tammi, I missed getting a snap with that!

A photo was also snapped of those present last Thursday for the selection of the books. Here we all are in shining glory with delightful Scholastic umbrellas too (wonderful thanks) that will come in exceptionally useful! I think there is forecast for a wetter than usual summer to come (ooh its summer here already!)

So there we go … selection is done for 2014 and I am thrilled to be on the Books in Homes selection committee that puts brand new books into the hands of younger readers who desperately need great kids books.
