So this is the last leg of our little sojourn – a stopover for a night in Hong Kong where three amazing things happened.
Amazingness 1: On our very last full day away we had a fantastic lunch at the Pak Loh Chiu Chow Restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui with my cousin Barney and my aunt. My aunt feasting with us was a wonderful surprise – my uncle was on the golf course. It was Ching Ming Festival too so that made today even more wonderful. I just couldn’t get organised for us to go out to the family graves.

Amazingness 2: We were leaving the restaurant when my cousin Barney, who is an amazing fashion designer (and who now also creates exquisite jewellery), was intensely questioned by the restaurant staff as we were leaving —
“Who is the famous designer that you are lunching with?” they asked him. Barney’s reply … “I am the fashion designer.” (Barney left out the famous part but he most definitely is). “He is the famous children’s author.”
The staff were not convinced though and continued to question and prod and probe. I’d like to know who the creative type is who looks like me!
Amazingness 3: We have had a few issues with our seats travelling on this trip but that all pales into insignificance for now, Bini and I have travelled in the very, very pointy end of the plane. We were upgraded to the Upper Deck which means being able to lie flat for Bini, or nearly flat and slightly coiled for me, on the homeward bound plane. Table cloths, crockery and cutlery, cool limited edition mugs, beds made for you … one could get used to this! We were at either ends of the Upper Deck – but when you are sleeping (sort of) and when there are even chairs for a guest at your cubicle … well, we can take separate rows! And even if I did not get to sleep it was still amazing.

And so our Hong Kong, Bologna, London trip is done.
More on the Carolinas later but Pam Vaughan (official photographer for the New England conference last weekend) has just sent me oodles and poodles of photos … so if you don’t want to see piccies of me in action – then look away now! There are photos of me with friends, of me panelling, photos […]
