What a grand time I had at Plunkett Street School last week presenting books for the Books In Homes crew. As a Role Model I pop in to a few schools that are on the programme and chat about my favourite subject – ME -and reading of course. Sometimes I read a book chosen by the kids. Sometimes I just chat. Sometimes …. I do both with lots and lots of listening too! Then it was time to present the chosen books and the kids at Plunkett Street were itching to grab their bags of books – some of them didn’t even wait till they got back to their seats before opening their bags and digging out their brand new books.
Each school is also sponsored and so the other guest was Gillian Marks the foundation coordinator from Goodman. The programme couldn’t do without wonderful sponsors like them.
And then yesterday (Wednesday) I was back in the Books in Homes offices to select the books for term 2 of next year. Can’t believe we are already looking at that. There are some absolutely wonderful titles coming out in those bags for certain!
So much fun and what a thrill to see the excitement on the faces as the kids discover their brand new books! See you sometime again Plunkett Street!
